The Alexandria Scottish Christmas Walk Parade started as a community event more than 50 years ago to highlight the city’s Scottish heritage. The event There will be food, vendors, live music, and a parade on Saturday, December 7th.

Schedule a tour of the U.S. Capitol! The Capitol Visitor Center is open Monday-Saturday from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Reservations are recommended for a tour. Visit the schedule a tour page to select a day/time.

Eastern Market is our stomping grounds and close to the Capitol! Enjoy the street vendors on Saturdays & Sundays, along with brunch in the market building itself. We love the bagel shop Call Your Mother nearby, and you can't go wrong with drinks at the Eastern.

We love going for walks along the Mall, which stretches from the Capitol to the Washington Monument and Lincoln Memorial. You’ll also find the main array of national memorials.

Along the Mall, you’ll see the historic Smithsonian Museums, all of which are free! Our personal favorites are the National Air & Space Museum and National Museum of American History.
